EXTERNSHIP 2026

Community meetings are specialized trainings that focus on learning part of the EFT model and you will receive CEUs.

They are held quarterly and usually held on the last Friday of the month. Meeting times are usually from 2:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. -See below for upcoming CEU events!

Peer Consultations will be a time where you can discuss a case you are currently working on and receive some feedback from other members in the SA EFT community. These are held on the last Friday of the months where we do not have our community meetings and usually held from 2:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m. You can contact us at saeftcomm@gmail.com to get a link.

  • EFT With Couples Healing From Religious Trauma

      • Cultural Competency CEU

        • When a partner defaults to people-pleasing or shutting down entirely when asked to assert a need due to high-control religious environments teach obedience and penalize questioning

        • Purity culture and feelings of shame, anxiety, and disgust regarding sexual pleasure.

        • Shifting from toxic compliance and co-dependency to mutual respect and shared decision-making.

        • Rebuild self-trust, separate inherited dogmas from personal values, and establish guilt-free boundaries due to religious trauma causing individuals to mistrust their own instincts.

    • ​Honoring Their Sacrifice: Using EFT with Military Clients with Greg Cheney, PhD, LMFT, LCMHC

    • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is a powerful tool to make sense of how military Service Members can be extremely capable and successful in their profession yet struggle to connect in their most important relationships.

    • Objectives*

    • Understand the mindset of “the protector." Understand the complexity of cultures within culture in the military and how EFT helps to gain an understanding of this culture. Understand how to use EFT with military clients by honoring their adaptive behavior that enables competence in their dangerous profession. Identify how EFT leverages attachment science to understand common military struggles of relationship disconnection, combat trauma, traumatic brain injury, moral injury, and addiction. Reflect on the self of the therapist and personal capacity for working with the military and first responders.
